Visit DelFosse Vineyards and Winery in Faber, Virginia - less than thirty minutes south of Charlottesville. A drive to the vineyard will take take you through scenic hills, lush meadows and the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains.
You could do a lite hike first, the 5.5 mile loop open to hikers and mountain bikers. The Trail is open during winery opening hours Wednesday to Sunday, between 11am and 5pm. Pets are welcome on a leash. The trail winds through a mountainside of massive rocks and new and old growth forest, with interesting flora and fauna. Views of the winery and surrounding mountains are spectacular.
Gear: Hiking shoes/boots, snacks, hiking poles (optional), water (recommended).
If you feel like afterwards, you should stay for a wine tasting and enjoy the views of terraced vineyards from the cabin deck. Bring your own picnic/snack or go for French Crepes prepared on the Winery Grounds 1-5PM.
